The challenges of eating right

I am not good at eating healthy.

Budgeting I can do (sort of), but eating healthy is incredibly hard. I am sugar, caffeine and carb addict, I love pasta and ice cream and a creamy cup of coffee. These are things I make in my spare time, this is what I love to eat.

And so far in these first five days, i’ve been failing. I’m not eating the way I should be and I need to start changing that, but I honestly just don’t know how. it’s really starting to take a toll on my confidence in this project, but I know that it is incredibly important. So I need to be stricter, make a meal plan that I must stick too and one that I must have very limited flexible with. Here’s my ideas:

6:45 am: Oatmeal or Yogurt or 1 cup Cereal with milk

9:45 am: Tea and Granola Bar, Rice Cake, Almonds or Apple

12pm: Lunch – Healthy choice soup or Salad with Balsamic Vinegar

2:30 pm: Tea and Granola Bar, Rice Cake, Almonds or Apple

5pm: Tea and Granola Bar, Rice Cake, Almonds or Apple

8pm: Dinner- Quinoa or Chicken and Veggies or Salad

9pm: Fruit Dessert

Obviously this is super basic, but I feel like if I have a small snack every few hours, it will dramatically decrease my hunger and therefore encourage me to eat small, lighter, healthier meals.

I know what you mean, Ashley! Eating what’s good for you can be so tough!
I always start the day with oatmeal and flax seeds (I soak it in water for half an hour – makes you more full like that!) and then add yogurt, an apple, a banana (or other seasonal fruit) and small serving of nuts. This way my body already has everything necessary for the day in the morning. During the day I try to skip carbs and eat a lot of vegetables and protein sources like tofu, eggs, or chickpeas. If I long for something in-between, I usually have a few almonds, dried fruits, a little cheese cube, or pickles.
But – as I said – usually. I’m a compensating and a social eater. I love cooking huge bowls of pasta with my roommates and long roll-heavy breakfasts with my family. And I reward myself with chocolate cookies way too often :)
I love eating healthy, but sometimes life just gets in the way :)

Obviously I totally understand :) I’ve started the flax seeds and they are awesome
